Summer Update 08

August 6, 2008

What’s Going on..

We know we are sorry, we haven’t posted for some time now. With all the activities that we are tryng to put together, and other stuff that will probably bore the pants of you, we have been engaged with all sorts of stuff.. Well thats our excuse..

Hope guys are ok since our last chat.. The Food side is taking off.We have committed  our self to print in respect to the most popular dishes on the menu…………..though, we still have the specials board for those inventive moments..

We have introduced a summer selection, you know the basic salad choice, stilton and bacon does seem to wet the palette. Duck/Spring onion with ……..dressing and hoi-sin…

Enough about food..

ok.. 1 more, the breakfast are to die for. £4.00 gets you a hearty start or top up in the evening.. very popular with the contractors away from home.. I tell you they ring their wives crying, it reminds them of home so much..

So We have invested in a table top football for te garden.. if any of you know the contact for the table top football association we would love to here from you.

The kids now have rides ‘Bob the builder and Postman pat’, and a little section for then to run around, were parents or guardians can supervise, with access to all amenities. ie: The Loo..

We also invited local to a garden party, with free ale and BBQ. Should have seen their faces when we handed out trowels, spades garden gloves lawn mowers and strimmers.. ahaha..

If any overseas readers are catching this, and also one the English Heritage. We have Quoits teams that play through the Summer months. Google it and get more info..Quoits..

The pub in general has had a face lift tummy tuck and bot-ox. it needed a lick of paint to get rid of all the nicotine stains left after the smoking ban in July 07.

One last thing in this post. Is that what we have notice is the community spirit that propagates from the efforts we have endeavoured to install in the house. It give us the will to continue and evolve..

So since May, We had our ‘Wild West Weekend’, What a cracking Saturday Then……..it chucked it down.. The Back garden was inundated with families and regulars having a thigh rubbing time on the bucking bronco, [see photo's.

Sallon Games

Hi all.. if anyone is reading these ditties, sorry for such a long wait for writing.

A tad busy, especially with the events that have been frequenting this establishment..

The T.N.C on the 12 of Feb with the Ann Summers evening went really well, as one can guess.. we definitely plan to do another one of those.

Chinese New Years Quiz had 7 teams playing, themed music around the oriental and the ‘Rat Pack’..

We now have Bebo site, 77 Friends on the last count, but we do not know half of them, but we are in the process in building that one up.

We are currently trialing Foster from Fri 15th Feb. think  we will get a mixed response.

Local radio station Town 102 has given us a couple of mentions. We intend to assist them with their charity. ‘Town kids Trust’. We Started to raise money on Valentines night, just on a hamper, got our first £55.

The Emperor is now and agent for ‘The Blues Lottery’  there is an opportunity to win £1000 a week, with the given numbers received through their office. There are at the moment 12 local willing to have a go. In addition there are other cash prizes to be won as well, check out their web site for more in-depth details.

The New stroke, second hand kitchen should of arrived on Friday 25th Feb.. Tech problems means we have to wait another week or so. But saying that the food demand at the moment is keeping us going, even with the limited hardware we currently have..

There are another few events for the diary: B.R.A. FEST. [British Real Ale] from England’s finest micro-breweries. This will be held over the Easter Week-end 21-24 March, inclusive of locals Jam sessions and a general Acoustic get together, BBQ available, just for starters..

Then a wild west Day, to celebrate John Waynes birthday. Wild Rodeo, Shooting range -only corks though. and some other interactive games. More details will be on the website soon..

So this is our first entry of no doubt many, The Emperor intends to use this Blog to create and give feedback to events and issues that are surrounding the local of your choice..namely here..

First of all the mention of individuals that have given up their time in the assistance of  bringing The Inn  up to speed at this stage of events. [ this been addressed in the 'in-house' fly-er as well], so please take a look.

So from the kick-off in September, it has been a very pleasurable journey, plenty of stories and anecdotes from the past from Emperor veterans. we will be blogging those as and when we hear them. Will categories them as nostalgia. Example the one about the goats in the ‘now’ pool area. ‘Ask at the bar for details’.. for now.

What a Christmas we had a cracking time, no grief no hassle, And apologies must go to those who did not buy tickets on time, we had turn away, believe it or not it did make us feel uncomfortable, but rules were rules around that time of year.

Amazing feedback though from all those who attended said chin-digs, only one person [who knows who he is], had to be carried out, ahaha assisted by his mates. But we wil have to mention the fireworks, a great display. and a thank- you Rae for the donation of the finally. We put that one in a wheelbarrow, lit it and ran.
